About Us
Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church is located along the banks of the Maumee River in Waterville , just southwest of Toledo, Ohio. In our 130 year history, Zion has remained vibrant and renewed, reaching out to those in need of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Sunday morning at Zion has been described as "alive". We offer both Contemporary and Traditional styles of worship. We offer a “Prayer Room” in our chapel for those who wish to receive prayer on Sunday mornings. The
sermons, children’s sermons, and dramas personally connect people to Jesus Christ. We believe in Sunday School for all ages. The gift of music at Zion is very much apparent through our Senior Choir, Praise Group, Bell Choir, vocalists and vibrant congregational singing. Music is considered one of our core values.

We are a very generous and giving congregation. We commit 16% of our weekly offerings, along with grants from our Mission Endowment Fund, to provide support and empowerment to many worthwhile organizations. These agencies and ministries are locally, regionally, and globally based. We also provide financial assistance through our Scholarship Fund for those who wish to continue education beyond high school.
Zion offers a variety of fellowship opportunities. Programs like Dinners for Eight, the annual Thanksgiving Dinner, Women’s Groups, Adult Bible Fellowships, Spiritual Gifts training, the Contagious Christian course, an Older Adult Group, Men’s Softball and Dartball teams, Lenten Soup Suppers, local and global mission trips, along with an enthusiastic Youth Group, all help to bring hope, encouragement, and support to a variety of people.
The focus of our ministry is based upon:
● The Word of God
● Inviting people to share in the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
● Our Mission to “Go and make disciples”
● The example of Jesus Christ
