Thank you for checking out our website! We also hope you will check out our church sometime soon.  We pray for our church to be a place where people experience the love and grace of God, grow in faith, establish life long friendships, find practical help for life, discover and use their spiritual gifts, and reach out to serve the world in the name of Jesus Christ.  Our goal is to form disciples of Jesus Christ who learn to be like Jesus and do the things Jesus did, praying for God’s Kingdom to come and God’s will to be done in Waterville as it is in Heaven.

If you are looking for church home, we hope you will consider becoming part of our community. However, we want to be clear that we are not in competition with other churches, but see ourselves as one part of the larger body of Christ.  Our prayer is that you will find a fellowship of believers in Christ where you can experience God’s amazing grace, worship the Lord, grow in faith, and serve your neighbor in love.  Know that we are more concerned with how many people we send out our doors in service, than how many come in to our worship services.

Our Sunday morning worship schedule includes a 9:00 AM Traditional Service and a 10:45 AM Contemporary Praise Service. Sunday School (Kid’s For Christ) is held at the 10:45 service. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated weekly in our Praise Service and on the first and third Sunday of the month in our Traditional Service. Some people come to worship in formal clothes, some dress casually, some dress in-between the two, so don’t worry about having to meet a dress code to enter our church, as we want you to come as you are.

We also have a child friendly room that overlooks the sanctuary that allows you to see and hear the worship service while having a place for your younger children to play. We also have children’s tables, chairs, and coloring books to the back of the sanctuary. We encourage parents to sit with their children in this “creative worship area.” Children are invited to place their artwork in the offering and we will give them to older adults in the area!

First Time Visitors to Zion

If you are new to Zion, we strongly recommend that you become involved in a small group, as we believe that the best way for a person to grow in faith is to share life with a few other people.  Zion has several different small group opportunities designed to help people connect with other Christians, serve others, receive encouragement, prayer, support and challenge. For more information on small groups and other opportunities to grow in faith, please visit our spiritual formation Page.

If you want to gain a better understanding of what your pastors and leaders are trying to do as we explore different ways to be the church, watch the video above.  We think this is a great, simple illustration of what the church is meant to look like.  Now that you have seen a big of our vision for ministry, are you willing to help Zion place discipleship and mission first?  Are you interested in learning more about what it means to be a family on mission together instead of individuals who occasionally go to church services together?  Do you want to BE the church and not just GO to church? If so, please make time to talk with Pastor Steve, we would love to continue the conversation.

If you are interested in learning more about our congregation, wish to receive our newsletter, want to ask us a question, or would like to talk with one of our pastors, please call us at (419) 878-0266 or e-mail

Finally, whatever your past spiritual or church experience may have been—even if you have never set foot in a church building before visiting us—we want you to know that you are welcome at Zion Lutheran Church.

We would love to get to know you and our hope is that your first experience on our website will be just the beginning of a great relationship. May the love, joy and peace of our Lord be with you always.

In Christ,

Pastor Steve Bauerle
